Pig nursery

Location: Kitabi , Rwanda

Project leadtime: 1 year

Requestor:  Sister Benedicte (responsible for Kitabi), via Zr. Donatha Kanzayire,
general responsible for the congregation of the sisters of St Franciscus of Assisi in Rwanda

Description of the project:

Growing pigs will help in fulfilling the basic needs for the population of Kitabi.
As you know Kitabi is a very poor region. The life-circumstances of the people are extremely difficult. The soil has a very high acidity and is very moist.

Objectives:

To obtain a good harvest the fields needs to be fertilised. For this reason I would like to start a small pig growing farm. This way the piglets can be donated to the poorest families and we will have fertilizers for their small fields and for our the radial terraces. In addition it will give deliver meat for these families as well as for the disabled children in the Centre.

Beneficiaries:

  • The poor families in Kitabi.
  • Children with a handicap in the health centre of Kitabi.
